About the Book:
As He-Man and Teela travel across the sea to Anwat Gar, King Randor, Man-At-Arms and the rest of the traveling group retreat to the hospitality of Chief Cougor. Where King Randor confronts Man-At-Arms about He-Man and Prince Adam. All the while Skeletor has appeared in Anwat Gar to collect the very thing that Anwat Gar is trying to protect. The Phlogista.
Reviewer Notes:
This story continues to unfold as it goes into the details of what Skeletor has planned for Anwat Gar. I like the fact that he is now trying to use the gifts and abilities of other countries to try and achieve his ends. While Dash Shel who is the prince of Anwat Gar was seen to be hurt in the last book, thanks to Evil-Lyn and her trick’s, he meets He-Man and Teela at the pier and uses his radar to attack them thinking that Prince Adam is with them. For those that grew up with the original, cartoon and toys this is a wonderful backstory to the character who would later be called “cyclone”. Like so many other of He-Man’s friends who help him fight his battles, little is known about them in general. From the original series Stratos was the only one with a proper backstory. So I welcome more details on this character.
The cover itself does not really show the details of the story as it unfolds, while showing He-Man attached to puppet strings. I like how it essentially shows Skeletor trying to manipulate the process as an end to justify his own means. Which is something Skeletor has always tried to do, without much success. The other thing that I am really liking is the consistency of the portrayal of all the characters and using the Kevin Smith series that is currently on Netflix as a base for the characters.
The interior artwork matches the front with its clean lines and wonderful distinction between characters, surroundings and events. It shows everything that the reader needs to follow the story and feel like they are part of it. Making sure that the details, even the smallest of them, are noticeable to make sure that the story continues going forward.
This series is definitely something that should be picked up by a fan of the He-Man mythos, while being a standalone story yet still shining a wonderful light on the artwork that went into the tv shows that are presently on Netflix!
