It’s been over two years since the last Spider-Man film was released. And a little over a year since Kevin Feige provided an update on the future of the franchise. With Jon Watts confirmed to not be returning to helm any upcoming sequels, many have wondered who will replace him. And while there have been several names floating around over the last few months, a new rumor suggests Marvel has its eyes set on a couple of familiar faces.
Per industry insider Jeff Schneider, directing duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are in the running to direct the next Spider-Man film.

If those names look familiar, it’s because you probably saw them during the credits of another Marvel property, Ms. Marvel. They directed the first two episodes and executive produced the entire first season.
They were also the directors of the Batgirl film that was infamously canceled by Warner Bros. and will never see the light of day.
Now, it’s important to note that because this bit of info has not been confirmed by Marvel or any of the major trades it should be taken with a grain of salt. Not to mention, they are not confirmed to be the directors of the film, just two people Marvel is incredibly interested in.
While names continue to float around the web, we believe a director announcement is imminent. Daniel RPK thinks so too.
The next Spider-Man film is rumored to begin production later this year.
