Shawn Levy is being considered to direct Avengers 5 and could potentially be the studio’s choice for the high-profile project.
Deadline reports that the project is still in its early stages. Marvel and Levy are currently in discussions about the film, with the studio providing the latest script to the filmmaker last week. However, other filmmakers are also being considered for the director’s role, according to insiders.
There is some caution to be had. In mid-March, Marvel offered Levy the directing job, but he had to decline due to scheduling conflicts. At that time, Levy was busy with responsibilities for Deadpool & Wolverine, set to release on July 26, as well as preparing for the final season of Stranger Things. His commitments included directing two episodes and other executive producer duties extending into the next year.
Initially, Levy’s schedule did not align with Marvel’s plans. However, insiders now suggest that the studio has postponed the film by several months, creating a new opportunity for Levy.
Marvel’s decision to revisit Levy highlights their desire to collaborate with him once again, indicating that their previous work on Deadpool & Wolverine was successful for both the studio and the filmmaker.
