Thunderbolts is gearing up to begin filming soon, and The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that Joanna Calo, the showrunner for The Bear, will be joining the team to work on the script.
The movie is set to start filming in March in Atlanta, GA.

For those unfamiliar with the Thunderbolts, they are often compared to Marvel’s Suicide Squad, but without the explosive devices to control them. Instead, they are recruited by General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross.
Director Jake Schreier impressed executives and secured the job. The plot of the film is still under wraps, but it will focus on a group of supervillains from the MCU. Marvel has been in talks with actors from the MCU to ensure their availability for filming next summer.

Unfortunately, William Hurt, who portrayed a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, passed away in May. He has been replaced by Harrison Ford, who will debut in Captain America: New World Order. The character was last seen in Black Widow in a weakened state, hinting at a potential transformation into Red Hulk.
In the comics, the Thunderbolts have included characters like Baron Zemo, U.S. Agent, the Winter Soldier, Yelena Belova, Ghost, Taskmaster, and Abomination, all of whom are part of the MCU. Deadpool, Luke Cage, and Ghost Rider have also been members at some point.
Thunderbolts is scheduled to release on May 2, 2025.
