Hidetaka Miyazaki’s favorite FromSoftware games after completing Elden Ring are Dark Souls and Bloodborne, says the president.

Hidetaka Miyazaki, the head of FromSoftware, has shared that Bloodborne and Dark Souls had a significant impact on him when asked about his favorite game from the studio.

In a recent interview with CNET, Miyazaki was questioned about his personal favorite game from FromSoftware’s entire catalog. While there were games created by the studio before Miyazaki joined, such as the original King’s Field games, the question seemed to be more focused on Miyazaki picking one of his own games, or in other words, choosing his favorite creation.

“First Dark Souls and Bloodborne,” Miyazaki begins. “Of course, I love them all. On a very personal level, I would say, first Dark Souls and Bloodborne left a very big impression on me. As a company, Elden Ring put us in a completely different league, so that was a huge milestone for the company,” Miyazaki, the director of Elden Ring and head of FromSoftware, continues.

“And if we expand it to all the FromSoftware games, including children not my own, I would say King’s Field 2,” Miyazaki adds. This game has been a favorite of Miyazaki’s for years, even before he joined FromSoftware, and it heavily influenced Demon’s Souls, the first game Miyazaki directed at FromSoftware.

For fans of Bloodborne, knowing that it is among Miyazaki’s personal favorite games may bring some comfort. Miyazaki has recently been asked about Bloodborne multiple times, expressing his happiness earlier this year in February that many people want a remake and mentioning again this month that many FromSoftware developers are interested in a Bloodborne PC port.

Interestingly, Miyazaki did not choose an Armored Core game as his favorite, despite his known admiration for the series. He has expressed being “extremely jealous” of those who worked on Armored Core 6 at FromSoftware. With a rich history to choose from, Miyazaki’s selection reflects his personal connection to certain games.
