Spoilers ahead for X-Men #1
X-Men #1 follows two storylines – one where Beast shows the X-Men’s new base to the police chief of a small Alaskan town, and another where Cyclops leads a rescue mission for a mutant in trouble.
Beast gives Chief Paula Robbins a tour of the X-Men’s new base, which used to be a Sentinel factory. Despite the revelation, Beast tries to create a friendly atmosphere. Meanwhile, Magneto asserts his authority over the situation.
Cyclops’ team rescues Wolverine and other mutants from experimentation by a group called Fourth School. The mutants are indoctrinated soldiers, leading to a tense confrontation.
The X-Men’s new mission is to coexist with humanity while defending themselves when necessary. This marks a departure from their previous approach during the Krakoa era.
X-Men #1 sets the stage for the ‘From the Ashes’ era, with a more grounded approach compared to the Krakoa era.
X-Men #2 will be available on August 14.
